MEDFORD – The Rogue Community College men’s soccer team will square off against Portland Community College this Saturday, Oct. 28, in a match that will decide the division title.
Although the match is the last in regular season play for the two teams, the Panthers (9-1-2, 7-0-2 NWAC) and the Ospreys (7-2-2, 6-1-2) are ranked No. 1 and 2 in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) South Division. The winner of Saturday’s de facto championship game will earn the division title and a first-round bye in the conference playoffs, which begin Nov. 1.
Both teams are guaranteed a spot in the conference playoffs, a first for the Ospreys in the team’s three-year history. The Ospreys last met the Panthers Oct. 8 in Portland. The match ended in a 3-3 draw.
Saturday’s South Division championship begins at 3 p.m. Saturday at U.S. Cellular Community Park field 14 in Medford.
