The Rogue Community College men’s soccer team fell to top-ranked Chemeketa Community College (8-8-1) (8-3-3) Wednesday afternoon 5-2. Rogue (4-5-1) (6-6-1) was hoping for a road win to stay in playoff contention as regular season play winds up at the end of October.
Chemeketa’s Luis Armenta scored first at the 15th minute before Kyle Millette tied it up at the 21st minute. Chemeketa then unleashed four unanswered goals to go up 5-1. The Ospreys leading scorer, Brandon Sauceda found the goal on an assist from Trenton Luebbert, with a minute to spare at the 88th minute to add to Rogue’s two points on the day. The Storm’s defense held tight as RCC fired nine shots on goal. Four yellow cards were issued: Hector Sanchez (CCC), Fernando Gutierrez (RCC), and Jonny Esqueda (RCC).
The men and women Ospreys will be home this weekend as they hit their home pitch at U.S. Cellular Community Park in Medford on Saturday afternoon. The RCC women’s soccer team (3-3-1) (3-5-1) will face Portland Community College (1-8-3) (1-7-0) at 1 p.m. and the men team will play PCC (6-3-1) (6-4-3) at 3 p.m.
