MEDFORD – The Rogue Community College (RCC) Ospreys women held their home opener Wednesday September 12th against Southwestern Community College (SOCC). The match was closely contested with both sides finding opportunities and ultimately ended with a final score of 1-1.
The Ospreys (1-2-1, 0-1-1 NWAC) started hot against SOCC (0-2-2, 0-1-1) pushing the ball up the field and looking to strike early. That moment came in the 14th minute when Logan Billy collected the ball after it bounced off the keeper’s hands and put it back into the net to put the Ospreys up 1-0. Southwestern looked to equalize throughout the remainder of the first half but the Ospreys defense held up and they went into the half at 1-0.
The back-and-forth match picked up where it left off as both teams had opportunities to add to their total. In the 58th minute SOCC saw an opening and Sahara Iverson drove it into the goal to bring the score to 1-1. The final 30 was quickly paced as both teams looked for the winning goal but the match would end in a draw with a final score of 1-1.
