MEDFORD –– The Rogue Community College (RCC) Ospreys women’s team was in action Wednesday, Sept. 26 when they took on Chemeketa Community College at home. The Ospreys had an onslaught of shots throughout the game with only one finding the net to secure a 1-0 result.
The Ospreys (3-4-1, 2-2-1 NWAC) were looking to build off their victory over the weekend when they took on the Chemeketa Storm (1-9-0, 0-5-0). They came out charging hard through the entire first half with eight shots on goal but the Chemeketa keeper managed to stop them all, ending with 10 saves on the day. The two teams went into the half 0-0.
Knowing they needed the three points to help inch them closer to the playoffs, the Ospreys came out with the same pace in the second half. In the 67th minute, as they pressured the keeper, she misplayed the ball and Logan Billy was able to find it and put it into the goal to give the Ospreys a 1-0 lead. They held strong through the final 20 minutes to earn a 1-0 victory.
The Ospreys are on the road for their next match. They travel to take on Portland Community College (4-4-1, 3-2-0) on Sunday, Sept. 30 for a noon match at Hillsboro Stadium. The Ospreys currently sit in fourth place in the Southern Region.
