MEDFORD — The Rogue Community College (RCC) Ospreys men found themselves under siege on Saturday, Sept. 29 as they hosted the Portland Community College (PCC) Panthers. The Ospreys lost 8-0. They were under attack from the very beginning and throughout the match, absorbing 30 shots from Portland.
The Ospreys (0-6-1, 0-5-0 NWAC) have been looking for a spark to turn their season around. It did not come Saturday as Portland (4-3-1, 3-1-1) started early with an aggressive attack and maintained the pace. In the 5th minute Miguel Vergara assisted Miguel Rosas for PCC's first goal of the match. In the 18th minute, Khalid Aden assisted Bryan Tapia-Silva to go up 2-0. In the 21st minute, Vergara assisted Aldelrahman Yassin to go up 3-0. And in the 37th minute, Martin Reyes scored unassisted to put Portland up 4-0 at the half.
The second half was similar as PCC struck early and often. In the 51st minute, Dorian Contreras Bran assisted Reyes on his second goal, and in the 68th minute, Aden got his second assist as he fed Reyes who put it away for a hat trick. Reyes then assisted Vergara for a goal in the 81st minute, and the final goal would come in the 90th minute when Rosas assisted Tapia-Silva to end the match 8-0.
There were two yellow cards issued: Angel Sonato (RCC – 70th) and Kipling Parowski (RCC – 91st).
The Ospreys men are at home again for their next match. They host Lane Community College (5-4-1, 2-2-1) to begin the second half of the regular season Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Community Park field 14 in Medford.
