MEDFORD — It was a battle of the NWAC South Region on Friday, Nov. 1 as the No. 1 Rogue Community College Ospreys faced the No. 2 Lane Community College Titans in Eugene. The Ospreys battled all game long as they pushed it to five sets but ultimately fell 3-2.
The Ospreys (23-3, 11-2 NWAC) came out strong against Lane (20-8, 11-1 NWAC) in the first set as they built a big lead only to see Lane charge back. The Ospreys held off for the first set win, 25-21. The second and third sets were almost identical as the two teams battled back and forth the entire time with Lane coming out on top both sets, 29-31 and 25-27. In the fourth set the Ospreys cruised to a 25-13 victory to push it to a fifth and final set. In the fifth the Ospreys led 8-6 and then broke, losing 13-15.
The Ospreys lost the match 3-2, dropping to second place in the South Region, a half game behind Lane. They are set to face Linn-Benton (24-9, 10-2 NWAC) on the road Saturday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m.
