MEDFORD — Bouncing back after a tough loss the previous night, the Rogue Community College Ospreys volleyball team downed Linn-Benton Community College in a competitive 3-1 match on the road Saturday, Nov. 2.
The first set was an all-time battle as the Ospreys (24-3, 12-2 NWAC) built a nine point lead only to see Linn-Benton (24-10, 10-3 NWAC) crawl back to tie it at 21. The two teams then went back and forth with Rogue controlling the leg up to a 35-33 finish. The second set saw the Ospreys fall behind only to crawl back but lose a close one, 23-25. The Ospreys led the entire third set and finished 25-18. The fourth set saw the Ospreys build an early lead and again control the set 25-15 to win the match 3-1.
The Ospreys were led by sisters Paia (16 kills, 13 digs) and Violett Togagae (16 kills, 21 digs), along with Olivia Wallace who had 45 assists and 13 digs.
The Ospreys will be home for their final two games of the regular season. The first is Friday, Nov. 8 versus Umpqua (18-15, 4-8 NWAC) and the final game of the regular season will be Tuesday, Nov. 12 versus Southwestern Oregon (16-16, 3-11 NWAC). The Ospreys are in second place in the South Region and locked in for a playoff spot.
