Ospreys Volleyball Sweeps in Opening Round of NWAC Championships

TACOMA, WA — The Rogue Community College Ospreys volleyball team swept their opening matchup of the NWAC Volleyball Championships on Thursday, Nov. 21. As the No. 1 seed out of the South Region, the Ospreys faced No. 4 seed Skagit Valley College. The Ospreys won 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-16).

The Ospreys (27-3, 14-2 NWAC) went back and forth in the first set with Skagit (5-7, 10-27 NWAC) as they worked through their first-ever post-season appearance. As a first-year program and South Region champion, all eyes were on Rogue and it took the players a moment to find themselves. After closing out the first set, they won the second and third in smooth fashion to the 3-0 win.

The Ospreys were led by their trio of hitters with Violett Togagae getting 15 kills, Noelani Beard with 11, and Paia Togagae with 16 while hitting .444. Olivia Wallace had 40 assists and Trinity Atuatasi had 20 digs.

The Ospreys move to the next round where they will face Treasure Valley Community College (22-14, 11-5 NWAC) at 10am Friday, Nov. 22. The NWAC Volleyball Championships is a 16-team double-elimination tournament held at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center.
