MEDFORD – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Men’s Soccer team was back on the pitch after 532 days. They had their spring season opener Saturday April 10th at US Cellular Community Park against Lane Community College. A back-and-forth physical match saw Lane find the back of the net in the 73rd minute to take the 3-2 lead that would end up being the final score.
Lane (1-0) came out with direct pressure against the Ospreys (0-1) as they found the net in the 3rd minute to take the early lead. The Ospreys equalized in the 16th minute when Ricardo Escobar played it in for Josue Reyes who headed it home. Lane would take the advantage in the 28th minute and hold it for a 2-1 lead at the half.
The Ospreys came out with pressure in the second half and after losing a player to a red card in the 58th minute got the equalizing opportunity when Jhoel Sarraude tied it with a penalty kick. Then in the 73rd minute Lane got a glancing shot crossed from outside the box that found the net and the 3-2 lead. The match would end with Lane winning 3-2.
There were 7 cards issued during the match. Six Yellow Cards: Randy Rodriguez RCC (45), Yuma Ozaki LCC (49), Milan Pyle LCC (57), Matthew King LCC (69), Bryce McCole RCC (85), Andrew Bennett LCC (89). One Red Card: Albert Barillas RCC (58).
The Ospreys will host Chemeketa Community College (0-0) next Saturday April 17th at US Cellular Community Park Field 14. No spectator are allowed inside the fence for the games. It will be the 2nd of 6 games for the Ospreys this spring, with one home and three road games remaining.
