Ospreys Men’s Soccer Earns 2-0 Win Over Lane

EUGENE – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Men’s Soccer team was on the road in Eugene taking on Lane Community College Wednesday May 19th. The Ospreys absorbed an early rush by Lane to ultimately control possession scoring in both halves while earning their first clean sheet of the season. The Ospreys were led by Jhoel Sarraude with a goal and an assist to Bryce McCole for his goal.

The Ospreys (3-2) wanted to control possession against Lane (1-3-1) and work their way through the field for scoring opportunities. Lane came with the offensive pressure early and often when in the 32nd minute Dayne Kubo cleared a ball to the midline where Albert Barillas had an amazingly soft touch to the middle for Jhoel Sarraude who played it through the back line to Bryce McCole who put it into the net. The Ospreys would go into the half up 1-0.

They knew they would have to score again to ensure the victory and the Ospreys came out with their attack earning a free kick from outside the box on the left side. Jhoel Sarraude would strike a bending ball into the upper left corner to score in the 48th minute and take the 2-0 lead. The Ospreys defense did the rest as they earned their first clean sheet of the season.

The Ospreys will head to Chemeketa (2-1-1) on Saturday May 22nd at 12pm. It is the final game of the season for Men’s Soccer. They currently sit in 1st place in the South Region standings.
