SALEM – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Men’s Soccer team was on the road in Salem taking on Chemeketa Community College Saturday May 22nd. The Ospreys found themselves in a closely contested battle but scored in the 44th minute and sealed the victory with a penalty kick in the 88th minute to win 2-0. For the first time in the programs 6 year history they will finish the season in first place in the NWAC South Region with a 4-2 record.
The Ospreys (4-2) wanted to avenge their loss from the week before and lock in their first ever 1st place finish in the South Region in their final game of the season. Chemeketa (2-2-1) has proven to be a tough competitor throughout the season and today was no different. The two teams would go back and forth in the first half until Randy Rodriguez drove down the right side in the 44th minute and played the ball across to Jhoel Sarraude who headed the ball into the net to go up 1-0. The score would hold until the half.
The second half looked similar to the first as both teams pushed for an opportunity when in the 88th minute the Chemeketa keeper was called for a yellow card in the box leading to a penalty kick that was converted by Jhoel Sarraude to take the 2-0 lead. The score would hold the Ospreys would win 2-0.
The Ospreys finish the season with a 4-2 record and with 12 points will secure their first ever South Region season title. They will return to the field in August for the 2021 season.
