GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Men’s Soccer team opened up their Fall 2021 season against Treasure Valley at the NWAC Friendlies. Playing at Starfire Complex in Tukwila WA the Ospreys came out with an offensive attack and a stiff defense to win the first match of the season 6-2. Jhoel Sarraude led the Ospreys in scoring with three goals.
The Ospreys (1-0) matched up against Treasure Valley (0-1) for the first game of their championship defense season. They started off with back-to-back goals and assists from Jhoel Sarraude and Rosendo Juarez-Flores in the 10th and 11th minutes. Juarez-Flores would add his 3rd assist in the 27th minute when he set up Randy Rodriguez for a goal. Treasure Valley would make it interesting with goals in the 33rd and 36th minutes leaving the Ospreys up 3-2 at the half.
Possession was the theme of the second half for the Ospreys as they controlled the ball and looked for opportunities. They would strike 3 times in the final 14 minutes. Hector Pinto-Perez would score in the 77th, assisted by Noe Cortes. In the 85th Sarraude would secure the hat-trick with an assist by Jonny McCoy. And in the 88th minute Jonny McCoy would get one of his own off a pass from Jose Regelado. The Ospreys would win the match 6-2.
They will take on Bellevue, tomorrow, Thursday August 26th at 8:00am to close out the Friendlies. Men’s Soccer will begin regular season play Wednesday September 8th in Coos Bay when they take on Southwestern.
