GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys men’s soccer team was on the road taking on Bellevue College for the second day of the NWAC Friendlies season opening tournament. They opened the tournament with a commanding 6-2 win and closed it with a dominating 7-0 win once again led by Jhoel Sarraude who notched four goals in the contest.
The Ospreys (2-0) picked up right where they left off as they faced Bellevue (0-1-1) when Rosendo Juarez-Flores set up Jhoel Sarraude in the 2nd minute for his first of four goals in the match. In the 9th minute Sarraude would set up Randy Rodriguez and in the 10th minute Jonny McCoy would set up Sarraude for his second goal. They would go into the half up 3-0.
Jonny McCoy got into the scoring action in the start of the first half when in the 47th minute a ball bounced off the frame and McCoy heel flicked it into the goal. Hector Pinto-Perez would score in the 51st minute unassisted and Sarraude would score in the 71st and 73rd being set up by Noe Cortes and Juarez-Flores once again. The Ospreys would win 7-0 and start the season 2-0.
The Ospreys will play their region opener Wednesday September 8th in Coos Bay against Southwestern with their home opener Saturday September 11th against Lane. The Ospreys are coming off a region championship, the first in program history, and start the season in first place in the South.
