Coach Nelson Notches 50th Win in 3-0 Victory

GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys volleyball team was at home on Friday September 17th hosting Mt. Hood Community College. The Ospreys defense took a while to warm up as the two teams were close in the first set only to see the Ospreys pull away and finish with a commanding 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-17) win.

The defense was not as solid as it usually is during the Ospreys (10-3, 2-0) first set against Mt. Hood (1-2, 0-1). While the offense was humming they kept Mt. Hood in the match only to turn the momentum and go on a 7-1 run to win the first set 25-20.

The second set saw the Ospreys rhythm spring to action as they commanded and lead and kept it to win 25-14. In the third set Mt. Hood found some good angles but the Ospreys would take and hold the lead to win 25-17, and 3-0 on the day.

The Ospreys were led by Devin Ireland with 37 assists, Catherine Rostel 9 kills, Mackenzie Ososke 9 kills, Toni Stevens 8 kills, Amanda Klotz 8 kills, and Tessa Frodge 6 kills. Jeanie Palsis held down the defense and service with 12 digs and 4 aces.

Coach Nelson earned her 50th win tonight against Mt. Hood. She is 50-11 since launching the program in 2019 while also winning the 2019 and 2020 South Region championships. The Ospreys will be at home again tomorrow, Saturday September 18th, at 1:00pm when they take on Clark College (4-7, 1-0).
