GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Volleyball and Men’s Soccer teams were both at home Saturday September 18th. Volleyball was hosting Clark College and steam rolled to a 2-0 lead only to slip in the 3rd set and close it out for a 3-1 (25-17, 25-13, 27-25, 25-18) win. Men’s Soccer was hosting Portland Community College and went back-and-forth all match where neither team could find a goal and would tie 0-0.
The Ospreys (11-3, 3-0) came out with a strong attack in the first set as they looked to make a statement. They would take a commanding lead before Clark (4-8, 1-1) went on an 8 point run to close the gap before the Ospreys would close out the set 25-17. In the second set the Ospreys defense held off any charge from Clark as they would win 25-13.
In the third set the Ospreys defense seemed to fall apart as they allowed Clark to stay close the entire time as they went into a back-and-forth battle for the lead with Clark winning 27-25. The fourth set saw the Ospreys come out looking to end the match as they went on the attack and closed out the match 25-18 and 3-1 on the day.
The Ospreys (4-0, 2-0-1) were looking to continue their scoring run but found themselves in a back-and-forth stalemate with Portland. Both sides took their shots, the Ospreys had some great looks but couldn’t finish and they entered the half 0-0.
The second half looked similar to the first but both sides were getting frustrated and it started to show. Neither side could find an opportunity and the match would end in a 0-0 tie. There were 3 cards handed out during the match, two yellows, and one red.
