Ospreys Volleyball Sweeps Chemeketa; Men’s Soccer Ties 3-3

GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Volleyball and Men’s Soccer teams were both in action Saturday September 25th. Volleyball was hosting Chemeketa Community College and after being caught off guard with their energy early they took control of the game and cruised to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-15). Men’s Soccer was on the road against Clark College in Vancouver WA and went down early only to take the lead and see Clark equalize late to tie 3-3.

Volleyball:
The Ospreys (13-3, 5-0) were slow to get started as they were caught off guard from the energy of Chemeketa (4-7, 1-4). They first set proved to be a close battle with the Ospreys pulling ahead late and holding on to win 25-23. The second and third sets saw the Ospreys take control and roll to 25-13 and 25-16 victories to complete the 3-0 sweep.

They were led by Catherine Rostel with 9 Kills, Mackenzie Ososke 7 Kills, Amanda Klotz 7 Kills, Jeanie Palsis 24 Digs, and Devin Ireland with 36 assists.

Men’s Soccer:
The Ospreys (5-0-2, 3-0-2) opened up against Clark (1-1-3, 1-1-3) on the road and in a match where Clark scored in the first minute to go up 1-0. In the 40th minute Randy Rodriguez would score the equalizer for the Ospreys and they would go into the half tied 1-1.

Jhoel Sarraude would pick up his 13th goal of the season in the 55th minute only to see Clark equalize in the 57th minute. In the 66th minute Rosendo Juarez would put the Ospreys in front only to see Clark equalize once again in the 73rd minute. The two teams would look for opportunities late but none would come and they would tie 3-3.

There were two cards issued in the match. Yellow: Brandon Michaud (39th), Jhoel Sarraude (90th).  

Ospreys Volleyball is on the road for their next match when they take on Lane Community College (6-1, 3-1) Friday October 1st at 6:30pm in Eugene OR. Men’s Soccer is at home for their next match when they host Southwestern Community College (1-6, 0-4) at 12:00pm on Saturday October 2nd at US Cellular Community Park Field #14.
