Ospreys Volleyball Wins 3-0; Men’s Soccer Falls 3-0

GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Volleyball and Men’s Soccer teams were both in action Saturday October 16th. Volleyball was on the road against Clark College and put a stop to their region losing streak as they cruised to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-21) win. Men’s Soccer was at home against Chemeketa College and saw their unbeaten streak end as Chemeketa scored early and secured with one late to win 3-0.

Volleyball:
The Ospreys (15-6, 6-3) were looking to change their tide after dropping 3 of the last 4 with all 3 in region play. They came out with energy and efficiency in the first set against Clark (7-14, 4-7) dominating to a 25-9 win. In the second and third sets Clark showed more fight and battled back and forth with the Ospreys winning both by a margin of 25-21 and winning 3-0 on the day.

Men’s Soccer:
The Ospreys (7-1-2, 5-1-2) entered the day as one of two unbeaten teams in the NWAC but two early goals by Chemeketa (8-3, 7-1) put them in a hole that they would not be able to climb out of. The first goal against came in the 4th minute as it was crossed to the back post and put in. The second goal came in the 15th minute as a foul in the box lead to a PK. The final goal came in the 87th minute after a scrum in front of the net lead to Chemeketa knocking it in. Starting keeper Franco Melgar saved a second PK attempt with his five on the day.

Men’s Soccer will be on the road for their next match when they take on Portland Community College (2-4-3, 2-3-3) on Friday October 22nd. They currently sit in 2nd place in the South Region.

Volleyball will be on the road as well for their next match when they travel to take on Clackamas Community College (4-12, 2-8) Friday October 22nd at 6:30pm. They sit in 3rd place in the South Region.
