Volleyball Upsets Lane 3-1; Punches Playoff Ticket

GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Volleyball team was hosting Lane Community College on Friday October 29th. The Ospreys started slow and fell behind early only to take control in the second set and roll of three straight sets to win the match 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23). The win cements a playoff spot for the Ospreys program making them 3-for-3 in program history in playoff appearances. 

The Ospreys (18-7, 9-4) were looking for revenge after being swept 3-0 earlier in the season by Lane (14-2, 11-2). The first set started rough as they fell behind big early and fought back but would not find the lead and lost 25-19. As the second set began, the Ospreys found their energy and their purpose and went into a three set battle where every point mattered, as they would win 25-22, 25-22, and 25-23.

The offense was led by power hitter Catherine Rostel with 16 Kills, Tessa Frodge 9 Kills, Amanda Klotz and Toni Stevens with 8 Kills, and Mackenzie Ososke with 7 Kills. Devin Ireland captained the offense with 39 assists and Jeanie Palsis and Kylee Anderson held down the defense with 30 and 20 digs respectively.

The Ospreys are will play their final home game of the year tomorrow, Saturday October 30th, at 3:00pm when they take on Linn-Benton Community College (22-2, 12-0). The Ospreys currently sit in 4th place in the NWAC South Region.
