Volleyball Falls to Linn-Benton 3-0

GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Volleyball team was hosting Linn-Benton Community College on Saturday October 30th. The Ospreys were slow to start the match and had to play catch up against a nearly mistake free Linn-Benton and could never grab control. They would fall 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 17-25).

The Ospreys (18-8, 9-5) were up against the number one ranked team in Linn-Benton (23-2, 13-0) for the third time this season. Each match has played out similar, we play tough tight sets but Linn-Benton minimizes mistakes and capitalizes to win. In the first we fell behind early only to climb back into a tie and then fall behind for a 19-25 loss. In the second we were matching points until late when Linn-Benton pulled ahead to win 25-20. And in the third we fell behind early, climbed back late, but couldn’t pull ahead and lost 17-25.

We were led in Kills once again by Catherine Rostel with 11 Kills and 12 digs, Tess Frodge with 8 Kills, Devin Ireland with 35 Assists, and Jeanie Palsis with 15 digs.

Our final two matches of the regular season are on the road. The first against Umpqua Community College (6-17, 2-12) on Friday November 5th at 6:30pm and the final game of the season will be against Southwestern Oregon Community College (8-17, 4-10) on Wednesday November 10th at 6:30pm. The Ospreys have clinched a playoff spot and sit in fourth place in the NWAC South Region.
