GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Volleyball team was on the road against Southwestern Community College for their final regular season match. The Ospreys needed to win to secure a 3rd place finish and they did just that with a 3-1 (25-12, 18-25, 25-18, 25-23) win.
The Ospreys (20-8, 11-5) came out with dominance in the first set as they won 25-12 over Southwestern (8-19, 4-12). In the second set Southwestern would prove they weren’t going down with a fight as they won a close set 25-18. In the 3rd the Ospreys would gain control and win 25-18 only to see Southwestern place them close in the 4th set as they squeezed out a 25-23 win.
The win sees the Ospreys finish 11-5 on the season in region play and in 3rd place in the south region. It marks a playoff appearance for all three years of the programs history after winning the championships the previous two years.
The Ospreys will head to Bellevue College in Washington to begin the group-play first round of the NWAC playoffs. They will start group play against Highline College (16-8, 9-2) at 10am on Saturday November 13th.
