Men’s Soccer Season Ends in Final Four

GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Men’s Soccer team was facing Highline College in their first ever NWAC Final Four appearance. They played a competitive first half before a stoppage time penalty kick would put Highline up 1-0. In the second they couldn’t capitalize on opportunities and ultimately lost 3-0.

The Ospreys (10-3-2, 6-2-2) were amidst their most successful season in program history. To get to their first championship game they would have to go through Highline (13-5, 8-5). While they played the match tough, were down their throats most of the match, they couldn’t find the net when it mattered and they would lose the match 3-0.

The loss has the Ospreys finishing in 3rd place in the NWAC their best finish in program history. They finish a season that saw their best overall record, their first playoff win, first elite 8 appearance, and first final 4 appearance. They also earned region MVP in Jhoel Sarraude and 5 All-Stars including Sarraude, along with Josue Reyes, Jose Gallegos, Rosendo Juarez Flores, and keeper Franco Melgar.

The Ospreys will look to strengthen the roster through recruiting as their sophomores look to transfer to the next level. The work for the 2022 season begins now.
