GRANTS PASS – The Rogue Community College Ospreys Volleyball team was in Bellevue WA for their first playoff match of the NWAC championships. They were taking on Highline College in the first round of group play. The Ospreys stayed composed throughout the match as they dominated early and held on late to sweep Highline 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 26-24).
The Ospreys (21-8, 11-5) were looking to start their third season playoff run with a statement win against Highline (17-9, 10-2). They came out with a consistent and aggressive attack led by Amanda Klotz, Catherine Rostel, and Toni Stevens. They took a lead and held it in the first, followed up with the same pattern in the second, and held off an aggressive push from Highline in the third to get the 3-0 win.
Klotz had 12 Kills hitting .304, Rostel had 9 hitting .240, and Stevens had 9 hitting .467. Devin Ireland commanded the offense with 38 assists and 4 kills. Jeanie Palsis and Kylie Anderson held down the back line with 20 combined digs.
The Ospreys will face the winner of Bellevue (20-7, 10-2) vs. Spokane (16-9, 11-5) Sunday November 14th at 10:00am. A win sends them to the NWAC Elite 8.
